A detailed review of the electric tile cutter Norton Clipper TR 232. Considering the higher price of tile cutters Norton Clipper TR 232 and 252 between 1000 and 1500 euros, their quality should be three to four times better than it’s analogues made in China (which are three to four times cheaper). I would like the Norton Clipper engineers to listen to consumers and produce tile cutters that do not cause complaints and do not require improvements from consumers. The Norton Clipper TR 232 and 252 is structurally significantly better than the TR 231, but remains a raw, unfinished product. I would not commend the engineers for such a product, especially since there are not so many things to be fixed.
Benefits:
1) plastic rollers inside the rail:
– rollers do not damage the rail;
– rollers are structurally adapted for cutting at an angle of 45 grad;
– structurally provide a rigid mount of rollers to the engine axis;
– rollers provide a smooth ride without jerks for steady cutting;
2) a powerful, rigid rail that does not bend;
3) strong, rigid base, which additionally serves as a trough for water collection;
4) rubberized aluminum light wide tabletop with a lot of holes for water draining;
5) a variety of devices for more comfort: clamps, side stop, a device for diagonal cutting, a protractor;
6) high-quality painting of the tile cutter;
7) ease of adjusting the tile cutter, a huge progress compared with Norton Clipper TR 231, where it was practically impossible;
8) a disc diameter of 230 – 250 mm is ideal for cutting of tile and porcelain stoneware without chipping.
Disadvantages:
1) the disk is not enough centered for such a price, which leads to an increase of chipping quantity:
– wrong clamping washer design. The washer that fits to the engine must be not only wide, but also high (40 mm), so that it is centered with the axis;
– disgusting alignment of the disk, which should be executed from the end of the axis, while the axis is askew itself. If the engineers are not able to put a wide washer, then the alignment end of the axis should be perfectly turned!!! (customers need to contact the turner to fix the manufacturer’s defects);
– clamping washers loosely lie on the axis and, accordingly, are aligned with the askew end. The end of the axis is not only wry, but there is no internal diving to improve the alignment;
Complicated solution: you should replace the engine with an engine from another tile cutter, simple solution: you call a turner.
2) on / off button: very inconveniently located in the Norton Clipper TR 232 tile cutter, which is very important when the disk is jammed and the cutter needs to be emergency shutted down. Solution: you should put the button from another tile cutter.
3) a power of the pump is 6.5 W, this is not enough. Solution: customers could use a cheap pump with a power of 15 watts. This is not diamond drilling, there is never too much water;
4) carrying handles interfere with transportation. Solution: dismantling;
5) the wheels are located at the ends of the legs and really interfere with transportation. Solution: dismantling of the wheels. They should be placed at the end of the trough.
6) the legs could be folded under the tile cutter, but they can’t be fixed, which makes carrying and transport difficult;
7) there is no laser, which should be present if there is no submersible engine!!! It’s not that expensive!!! But you can buy and attach it yourself;
8) rollers are short-lived and constantly break down. This is a constructive miscalculation of engineers. They are even not replaced under warranty.
